Vegan

Seattle Post-Intelligencer
July 24, 2008

Thanks for the article about Sidecar for Pigs Peace and the growing popularity of vegan food ("Meal made for a vegan," Monday). Vegan restaurants and groceries are making it easier than ever to find cruelty-free fare, not just in Seattle, but across the country and across the world. People in Seattle and across America are replacing meat with healthy, delicious, cruelty- and cholesterol-free fare, such as citrus barbeque tofu, mock meatloaf or vegan shepherd's pie. We have a special obligation to protect the rights of those who cannot speak for themselves, like the 10 billion animals raised and killed for food every year in America. There's no better way to defend animals than to leave them off our dinner plates.
