Hard-Boiled Truth of Egg Production

Kudos to SOS for educating students about the hard-boiled truth of egg production. To most people’s surprise, behind nearly every “incredible, edible” egg sold in stores today is a hen confined inside a wire battery cage so restrictive, she can barely move. Deprived of virtually everything natural to her, she will never build a nest, roost in a tree, or even set foot outside. As a former animal control officer in our nation’s capital, I am certain that if dogs or cats were treated similarly, it would result in legal prosecution.
